Finally, Vancouver.

For once..I am proud of a choice that has been made in regards to the downtown eastside.

The sad part is, I heard it on the news…so who KNOWS whats even true.

But as it turns out, Simon Fraser has plans (if 12 million dollars comes in) to build their school of the Arts in the Downtown Eastside.

If that goes through, then there are plans to put some condos in the downtown eastside as well.

Wow, for once not ignoring the massive population of homeless people? I think this is a brililiant idea..The life and creativity of college students immersed in lonliness.

Maybe they can teach each other something. Maybe we can learn from this.

Simon Fraser News Release

Maybe you believe we are all individuals and therefore only responsible for ourselves.
That no one else can affect the way you think, feel or behave.

I believe otherwise. Thats why those annoying little phrases like “turn that frown upside down” or “smile” exist..because they actually hold truth..whether you like to admit it or not.
When we are in the presence of something good..it affects us..same with the bad.

it reminds me of a line from a Michael W. Smith song that says:

“Love…isn’t Love, until you give it away.”

Its hard to love from a distance.
unplug your nose, leave your ego and your status at the door…and lets get a little closer.

Worth…

Tonight, I talked with a man who lives on the streets.

Glen is his name.
He was very interesting, and I was surprised when he told me..
that he used to be so afraid of being broke and homeless..
that one day, he took all the money he had left and threw it
into the street..
that he was sick and tired of being so afraid…all of the time.
So much time..so much life wasted.

He told me ..that he’s not afraid anymore..to sleep on the streets.
In fact, he’s had some pretty comfy nights in garbage bins of office paper..

After he released the tug of money on his life, there was nothing holding him down.

he reminded me of what Thomas Edison once said:

“I never did a day’s work in my life. It was all fun. “

I was amazed by the look of freedom and confidence in his eyes.
he even had money in the bank…but he said to me..

that he doesn’t need it.

bah..to be so free of something..
that you could have it, and not be a slave to it.

I would like to have that.
just goes to show..you can have everything: a roof over your head, nice clothes, a car, a boyfriend, a dog, and a perfect 9-5 job…
but not really have anything..of worth.
they are all just things.

p.s. i had a really good chai tonight, with a really good friend. that made me happy, and it was definitley worth something :)
